3 Critical Factors To Think About When Offering Resale Rights For Your Product


Part 2 of a 2 Part Series

In the first part of this article, I discussed why you
would want to offer resale rights. In this part, you'll
learn exactly what to place in your ebook so that you don't
destroy the value of your work.

First, you should offer a license for resellers. By having
a license, you have more control over your product. You can
revoke your license if a reseller breaks your terms of
resell.

Before I talk about the terms of resell, I should tell you
about the different types of licenses you can have.

Normal resale rights licenses allow your customers to
resell your product but they cannot allow others to resell
it. Master resale licenses allow your customers to resell
your product and they can also sell the resale rights to
their customers.

You need to state your terms for resale to protect the
value of your product. If you don't want your product to
lose value you need to tell your resellers that they cannot
sell the product below a certain price that you set.

You can't legally enforce a reseller to sell your product
for a certain price but you have the rights to revoke their
reseller license.

Also, do not allow your product to be bundled with other
products. Also, do not allow your product to be offered as
a bonus for buying other products. These precautions allow
your product to get the most visibility.

If your product was one of 50 products that people buy in a
package, it has little chance of being read, which means
lost backend profits for you (from the affiliate links
inside your product). Do not allow your products to be
offered in a membership site.

You want to state all these terms for resale within your
product. That means to state the terms on a page at the
beginning of your ebook or link to a page with the terms of
resale from your software.

Sometimes people will buy your ebook without the resale
rights and then decide to buy the rights after they read
your ebook. You should offer a link to buy the resale
rights from within the ebook so they don't have to go back
to your main sales page.

Remember when I told you to not allow your product to be
sold as a bonus, in a package and as part of a membership
site? I lied - well fibbed. You can make big bucks if you
sell just limited rights for each scenario.

For example, you can charge a very high price for the
rights to sell your product as a bonus or as part of a
package. Limiting those rights will keep everyone who do
not know how to market to destroy the value of your
product.

If someone plops down $500 for the rights to sell your
product as part of a package, you know they're serious
about their business and they have effective ways of
distributing your ebook.

Here's a big secret to getting hundreds of copies of your
ebook sold.

Say you sell your ebook with resale rights for $67. You
might be making 5 sales a day on average. Just approach a
membership site owner and offer discount pricing on bulk
orders of your product.

Bulk pricing is common in offline sales and is a very
effective means of moving large quantities of your product.
If you sell 100 copies of your product for a bulk price of
$45, that's $4500 in your pocket.
